Four-spot Chaser, Weetslade

What a fantastic Dragonfly to start off my new blog which features images taken mainly on my 100mm Canon EF f2.8 Macro lens. This stunner captured at Weetslade Country Park on the edge of Newcastle and is my first Dragonfly of the year. Also on view were Blue-tailed and Common Blue Damselflies but no did not manage any images of these species.

  7. They were my first on Thursday Brian. Called at Kibblesworth and Burdon Moor today (Fri) but no luck with Broad-bodied Chasers despite them being reported at B.M. on Tuesday. Hundreds of teneral Damsels at Kibblesworth and over a dozen 4 Spot Chasers tho'.

  9. There's plenty of bogs and mosses to choose from around that area Cain and they have a large selection of species. I'm rather jealous. After last years poor summer i'm hoping for a better one and a chance for the Dragons and Damsels to enjoy it so we can enjoy them. They are fascinating creatures.
